Teacher's Primary task is to Transfer Good Thoughts. and Final task is to pursue Research. That's what the letters in TEACHER - represent.
Over the years, teacher gains good knowledge combined with wisdom. That wisdom ultimately helps one to pursue research - in the domain where one wants to add value or bridge the gaps, or make it more contemporary.
That's why I call research as " an irrational passion for dispassionate rationality".
How to pursue research - The Ten commandments:
1. Primarily the research should have an inquiring mind. What, when, why, where, who and how the information about the field of knowledge got originated, developed and reformed? What new vistas of growth and opportunities exist in that specified field? How to initiate change? Are some of the possible questions that strike researcher's mind.
2. To begin searching for answers, the literature review should be done through reading past research papers and articles that are already published in any of the referred journals.
3. After scanning through essential insights and gaining moderately good ground, the selection of a specific segment can be made that sounds interesting and having relevance to current as well as future implications.
4. Prepare an abstract of the proposed research - viz;, the inspiration behind such research, rationale behind the study, objectives of the study, research questions, hypothesis and possible outcomes of the research etc. aspects to be covered in the abstract.
5. Develop a research design - a road-map on the modus operandi of research- viz,, research methodology - qualitative or quantitative research, or mixture of both, using secondary or primary research, population and sampling, the size and method of sampling, statistical tools and techniques proposed to apply and software to be used for data feeding and deriving results, etc., issues to be made clear.
6. A thorough understanding of research methodology can be gained by reading books on the subject.
7. Synopsis should be prepared covering all the above aspects and include proper citation of references wherever essential to avoid plagiarism and give due importance to the previous researcher's efforts.
8. A detailed questionnaire be prepared wherever necessary to seek information from the respondents 9. A pilot survey considering minimum percentage of the sample be conducted to gain the intricacies involved in collecting data and difficulties in feeding into the software.
10. Finally data collection, feeding into the software, getting results, interpreting and discussing the results, and data analysis etc. be done to prove the hypothesis that are framed before the beginning of the research.
